ABSTRACT

The United States is currently experiencing a youth mental health crisis. An already vulnerable, and from some perspectives, fundamentally flawed mental healthcare system has shown to be severely inadequate in supporting the increasing mental health needs of children and teens throughout the COVID‐19 pandemic. Indeed, a 2021 advisory report released by the Office of the Surgeon General named the youth mental health crisis as an "urgent public health issue" and called for a coordinated response by the country's child‐serving institutions.
